1896

Vincenzo & Cira Garofalo left Palermo, Sicily & settled in Baltimore, Md.

1898

Vincenzo & Cira Garofalo started a grocery/produce store in Baltimore, Md.

1935

The business was handed down to Frank & Mary Pastore

1960

Frank & Mary’s children, Michael & Vince took over running the business with their sister Shirley’s help. Michael soon realized that, besides servicing the public, there was also a need to provide products to other restaurants, deli’s, etc. in the area.

1982

Michael purchased the Sun of Italy label which consisted of a few tomato products. He grew the line into the 100+ items it is today.

1989

The business was moved from Little Italy, Md. to Highlandtown, Md. where it resides today.

1989

Michael’s son, Michael Frank took over running the everyday operations.

1998

Mike Pastore becomes the fifth generation to enter the business.
